The opening party of the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai was a lavish affair. The Atlantis opened the doors in November of 2008 to the party of all parties. It lasted just one night, but will be remembered by all those who attended for quite some time to come.

The party was reported to have been the most expensive opening night party ever thrown. Singer Kylie Minogue was the headliner for the evening’s entertainment at a cost of two million pounds for an hour of singing. The entire party was estimated to have cost 16 million pounds.

The guests were all jet setters and included politicians, actors, musicians, and others from the entertainment world. Over 2,000 guests attended, making it sound more like a one night festival than an opening party. The fireworks display, provided by Grucci, was a three million pound expense. Grucci were the pyrotechnicians of the Chinese New Year and for the Beijing Olympics, so the party planners spared no expense there.

The catered dinner was provided at a cost of a million and a half pounds.  The dinner was catered by several Michelin chef creations. The guests were given complementary rooms at the Atlantis for the evening of the party; this totalled a loss of 10 million pounds.

The grand opening party was designed to highlight the resort and all it has to offer guests that stay there. The hotel has been dubbed the ‘maddest’ hotel in Dubai because of its extravagance. No expense was spared in the design and construction of this tropical paradise.
